Akello Patricia

AKELLO PATRICIA was born in Gulu Town as the second of five children. She was separated from her mother at a young age and was under the care of her stepmother. Unfortunately, her stepmother was not happy about having a stepchild and did not care for her basic needs and her father did not give his children attention. Her grandmother stepped in when she could to give her food and clothing and a few years of school. She was eager to go to school but was unable to because she became pregnant with her son and got married. Her husband, Daniel, was able to continue with schooling while Patricia stayed at his family home with his mother. Once Daniel finished school, they began their lives living together. Just after that time she was given the opportunity to work at Life Beads and she has been there for 3.5 years. Daniel works for the ministry as a mechanic as well. Patricia’s job at Life Beads is so important to her and she cherishes it very much. It has brought many positive changes to her life. She can now buy things and not be dependent on anyone else. Her children are able to go to school, their family is well fed and clothed. They have even been able to buy animals to keep and have acquired a small piece of land for themselves. She is so thankful to the Lord for what she is learning through her work community and how it is helping her grow spiritually and fundamentally.
