LAKARA BER PROSSY was born in 1993 in Koro IDP Camp in Gulu, one of two children. Her father was killed by the rebels while she was still in the womb. Her mother died from poisoning when Prossy was three, so her uncle, who was a soldier in the Ugandan army took her and cared for her. He sent her to school where she completed P6. They left Koro and moved to Bombo Barracks in Kampala, as her uncle was transferred there. He was later killed in a crossfire, so his wife cared for Prossy and they returned to Palaro. She met her husband who was from Kinene. They married in 2007 then returned to his home after the war. They have four children and her husband, Odong Thomas, works at Abaana’s Hope.
