Chase and I hope that this letter finds you in good spirits and doing well. We are excited to share with you what God is doing in our lives! Since being married on December 08, 2012 we moved from Auburn, Alabama to Augusta, Georgia. We thought that Augusta would be our new home, but God had completely different plans for our future! On August 3, 2013 we will move farther away from home than either one of us could have ever imagined! Chase has accepted a position with Four Corners Ministries as the Construction Manager of Abaana’s Hope (Abaana is an African word meaning children) in Gulu, Uganda. Chase will be in charge of building a self-sustaining comprehensive children’s village that will provide holistic care for orphans through the building of family children homes, a school, a medical clinic, grist mill, and a church. The orphans will also be provided with clean water and fresh food grown by Ugandans at Abaana’s Hope. The ultimate goal of Abaana’s Hope is to help raise future leaders, to lift them up and fill them with love and hope so that they might do the same for their neighbors.

The question has been posed many times why Uganda? Well, imagine a population of people whose average age is fifteen, who have been torn by war all their lives.  A people group left with no parents and no access to an education that will teach them to better themselves.  Imagine a people group dying at an alarming rate from lack of clean water and basic medical care.  Even more tragic, imagine a people who have no knowledge that God, the amazing creator, loves them and wants desperately to heal their lives. Literally, they are a people without hope.  I want to introduce you to the Acholi people of Gulu, Uganda. They are real. They are beautiful, and they are all created in God’s image for the same reasons you and I are.  In Christ alone their hope is found, and they only need someone as equally hopeless to tell them and show them the Gospel’s good news. By building Abaana’s Hope we will be giving hope to hopeless people.

We would love for you to join us on this mission. Together, we can rescue children as we invest in their lives and lead them to impact Uganda for generations to come. It is our prayer that Abaana’s Hope will challenge the worldview of our constituents, as well as their friends and family.

We would like to call all of our friends and family to pray specifically for these things:

  • For spiritual maturity together as a married couple
  • To follow Gods will in Uganda
  • For safety and good health in Uganda
  • For Abaana’s Hope to follow Gods plan, not our own

If you would like to join us financially on this journey you may do so by donating online at http://www.fourcorners.org/online-giving/ (select one time or recurring donations, select Abaana’s Hope Missionaries, select “The Barbrey Family,” Insert Amount, choose next, fill out payment method, submit) or by check with “Barbrey MFS” in the memo line to Four Corners Ministries at 715 Avenue A, Suite 206, Opelika, Alabama 36801.  All donations and pledges earmarked to the Barbrey Family are tax deductible and go to continue to make the building of Abaana’s Hope possible. Please do not hesitate to contact us with questions at kimberly@fourcorners.org.
